Silene vulgaris...bladder campion...maidenstears...στρουθούθκια...

...no matter what it's called, it is an unusual looking flower.

When we first moved to Cyprus, my landlord (who has since become my dearest friend) and I walked our dogs together every morning. Julia always had her pocket knife and a grocery bag. As we walked the fields with the dogs, Julia would pick what looked like weeds to me and put it into her bag. There was always a variety. Included in her bag were bladder campion, mustard greens, fennel fronds, wild spinach, black asparagus, and things I have never learned the names of except as "λαχανικά" or vegetables. All of these freshly picked, completely organic, free veggies would find their way into her dinner. As I began to pay attention, I realized that many of the villagers did this in the fallow fields and pastures. Nothing more than 15 minutes of a pleasant walk and part of a meal was provided. Even this farm girl learned something.
Beautiful capture and story to match.

Very delicate and really 'pops' on black. What a special story too.
