A family of crested larks lives in the field next door. I have been trying for weeks to get a photo of one of them, but they are super fast, and I am not. Today, I was finally able to hide behind an oleander and slink down the driveway so that I could get this shot.
As the rest of the family grazes...do birds graze? Sorry, tangent. This mom or dad stood on the rock keeping watch, singing a song and making sure his/her family was okay. The parents like this rock in the middle of the field; I have seen them use it several times to raise themselves above the stubble.
