About five years ago, I was given a straggly plant that my gardener put in a pot on the front veranda. And that is where it has stayed. It became less straggly but didn't become particularly pretty. It had long slender leaves, and that is it. Until this year. For whatever reason, this year, it decided to send out one stalk of magnificent blossoms.
Of course, I had to take photos. So I did. Eric helped me lift the pot onto the table out front and then was putting it back down when it disintegrated in his hands. Thankfully, the plant survived. He found another pot and was repotting it when suddenly, he heard a "CRACK!" and the stalk holding all of the beautiful blooms fell to the ground. How sad! He put it in a vase for me, and I hope the blooms last a while because they are so pretty.
