We took a drive into Amish country today. I love seeing their well manicured farms and the children out playing in the yard! It's great to see these horse drawn buggies heading down the roads too! We stopped into one of their bakeries for some turnovers, jam, and cherry pie!
this is such a good shot and composition :) !Speaking of Amish we've recently had an oldies but goodies movie marathon and watched "Witness" with Harrison Ford
Lovely capture - did you see the washing hanging off the the second floor of their houses. I particularly love their huge, greaseless, delicious doughnuts!
@gingersanders@monicar@girlie@mikew@annamaker Thank you so much! @crisd Thank you Chris! What a coincidence that you were watching that movie! Great oldie for sure! @jmj Thank you so much Jennifer and for the fav too!! @twofunlabs@spthorne@peggysirk@jenrobcarr@richardshears@denisedaly@amers79 Thank you so much! @hjbenson Thank you Harry! Yes, no power lines to any of their homes! When we went into the bakery, it was even more evident. It was very overcast and there was no electricity in the bakery and of course no air conditioning. They even used an old mechanical adding machine to total our charges. Just very friendly people and such an interesting way of life. My kids sure had a learning experience! @kerristephens@francesca Thank you so much! @miraries Thank you Miriam! We did see lots of hanging laundry out on their clothes lines and it was so great seeing the children at just about every farm out playing in the yard!
great shot. I didn't realize you were traveling and my mind frantically raced trying to figure out where Amish country was around here. hope you're having a great time.
@dvarey LOL Diana! I would have been thinking the same thing too! We are traveling through the midwest right now on our way to a conference and are visiting family along the way!
