This pelican was the last bird left sitting on the beach at Quick Point this morning. I saw a huge number of birds at this spot at low tide and made my husband stop the car. There were great egrets, snowy egrets, pelicans, a tri-colored heron, a flock of ducks, a group of gulls...it was amazing. It looked like a party on the flats. After about 10 minutes the ducks flew off toward town and the rest of the flocks quickly followed leaving this one, lonely pelican behind. We thought it might be injured, but after a few more minutes, he flew off to join the rest.
