Great Blue Heron

I was out hiking in Hammonasset State Park with two friends today and spotted this heron feeding on the way back to the car. We are not sure what it was eating, but it pulled some shiny wriggling things out from under the ice.

Ah, great minds thinking alike!! I'm not sure about lens length, but I was quite close to him! He clearly was used to seeing humans in the area as he was totally calm.
