I made the mistake of going to the woods to grab some ferns to put under a newly developed flower garden under the apple trees.
Little did I realize that wild ferns would develop rhizomes and spread like wildfire. I am determined to dig out all of them this year and replace them with friendlier hostas.
Everett is willing to join in the battle.

Thanks, Pat! I wouldn't say that my fingers are too green - only plants too stubborn to die under my care survive here! And obviously, these ferns will need some help to get there!

I never thought I would get to the age where I would have grand-children - time does have a way of sneaking up on us! But now that I am here, I am so glad that I get to enjoy toddlers all over again and then pass them back to Mom! LOL!

And I think those saprophytes will win in the end ... they are just stubborn enough to refuse to die. Just when you think you have every last inch of root out a new one pops up and starts the whole process all over again!
