We have a new boy on the farm to keep the bloodlines of the ewe lambs clean.
We will be keeping the father of the ewe lambs to continue working so we can expand, so we need this second ram for the second family line.
The new ram seems nice, but I hope his personality is as good as the old ram we have! Not looking forward to the first time I go into the pen with him!
Nice shot. We brought a new ram (lamb) in last year. He runs for me when I go in the field! But his main goal is just to shove his face under my hand and demand scratches. :D Not sure why he's such a love (we got him fro ma larger producer, and he definitely wasn't a pet) but I'll take him being a bit of a pest over being aggressive

Thank you all for your lovely comments.
There was one beam of light shining in from above the door and I was lucky enough that he decided to pose in it for me. He was standing so alertly looking at Shadow who was just outside the pen looking at him.
Love it when things fall into place like that!
We have katahdins (hair sheep), so no need for shearing. I really like the sheep, because they're just easier to move and handle compared to the cows. Especially once they know what a grain bucket is - sheep will completely stop thinking and follow you anywhere if you have a bucket in hand :D A little more work, especially around lambing, but at least I can deal with issues on my own when my husband is away.
Well he looks quite nice, I hope he has a nice nature as well. I hope you don't mind me asking, but I am curious to know why he has been shaved on his legs and underside?

So, how do you enjoy sheep? What breed are they? I find sheep are definitely more maintenance than beef cows.
