Poor Ellie, the black Labrador puppy, was just a little intimidated by Shadow, who, while the same size as her, is quite a bit older.
He, like many Border Collies, is also quite rude and obnoxious towards other dogs. He has the typical Border Collie habit of staring intently at other dogs from afar which also intimidates them.
But, in the end they did get along just fine.
She's very politely averting her eyes! I didn't know that was a BC trait - must tell the puppy, she thinks everyone and every dog is a potential friend, far too trusting:)

Yes - Border Collies have the ability to herd sheep and other animals by simply laying low and staring at them! Their gaze is very intense - and not much can get them to break that stare. As a matter of fact, obedience and agility trainers put a lot of effort into breaking Border Collies of that rude behavior.
