Sugar Time by farmreporter

Sugar Time

Annie @annied noticed that my recent posts have been cold and snowy so she challenged me to show warmth. I could interpret it any way I wanted so I chose the literal, physical definition of the word.
Nothing says spring and the warming of the earth better than the sugar bushes coming alive with the sap flow of the maple trees.
Farmers have been gathering maple sap for five days now and boiling it down to make syrup.
It takes 40 gallons of maple sap (they call it water around here) to make one gallon of sweet, delicious maple syrup. That is a lot of boiling and a lot of steam!
Here you go, Annie @annied. It was warm in the sugar shack today!

Cool capture of the steam. I'd like to observe this process in real life sometime.
