May Words - Wildlife (Biological Diversity Day)

Well, I looked for deer, or turtles, or anything else commonly seen around here for this spot in the calendar but did not see anything.
I did see Canada Geese, and could have used them but I already have some of them in this month already.
So, it is a nest of tent caterpillars instead! That ugly, wiggly, hairy mass of creepy, crawly worm like creatures that devour leaves off of trees in a single day.
I tried to make it beautiful with bokeh in the background but I don't think I succeeded. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear no matter how hard you try!
They are everywhere these days. Would they kill the tree?

Maybe not beautiful but interesting. When I was a kid visiting relatives those fascinated be because we didn’t have anything like them.

Eeewwwww. Looks like the tree has been slimed by that ghost from Ghost Busters.

@adi314
They do not kill the tree but certainly does not allow it to prosper!

They are certainly ugly and show the diversity of our world. Got to show the ugliness as well as the beauty!

Do you leave them alone or do you poison them? They are so hard on trees.

What I always threaten to do but never get around to because it is the busiest time of the year is to take a propane torch to quickly burn them. It can be done without harming the tree at all.

Tent caterpillar nest. You'll have them crawling around soon.

Yikes! I have not seen this before and don't think I want one in my backyard! Maybe happy it is not full of spiders though. :)
