Hanging on!

This hairy woodpecker was hanging on to the feeder in hopes of some food. The problem was that he was too heavy and when he landed on it the openings closed. I'm sure he found food elsewhere.

@maggiemae You are right. If they are two heavy which the squirrels are then it closes with the weight. The small birds can land on it and have no problem it's just the bigger birds that are too heavy! It can be adjusted but I have other feeders that they can feed at so I leave this one for the smaller ones.

These are fun to watch at the feeder but they can be like Woody Woodpecker if they decide to look for insects on your garage or home.
Years ago we had a company build us a 2 car garage and they used Fir for trim which is cheap and very soft. Parts of trim has holes now from Hairys and Downys looking for insects. Great capture of it though. I like how they use their tails for balance.
