Today's pictures were not good, so one from yesterday. Small but very determined butterfly buffeted by the breeze but hanging on to its resting spot for all it was worth. I was surprised I could get up close to it at all as this was taken with a standard kit lens (18-55mm) but guess she was sidetracked by the struggle not to be blown off her perch. Believed to be a Common Blue (the females are brown) but am sure someone here will be able to correct my identification if I am mistaken.
Sorry you considered your photos of today not good enough for publishing but am pleased you had the chance to post this one instead.. it's a beauty and it would be a shame to let it languish unseen..
you did rather well to be close enough for focal length of 45mm.. focus looks pretty perfect on her head.. love the composition and the gorgeous soft negative space..
maybe the wind was too blustery for her to fly.. Whatever the reason for her staying, it was good for your camera and for your followers too..
Poor little creature - I have felt sorry for them - the wind has been so harsh for August. I love your photograph. The negative space works well with the butterfly looking into it. Fav
