Glowing in the dark by fbailey

Glowing in the dark

The woodland floor was in deep shade today and suddenly there it was, literally glowing with colour
How lovely, I think it may be Arum lily berries, what a treat to find

@suzanne234 @gijsje @pyrrhula Thanks so much! I came across one of these in the same wood last week with just a single ray of sunshine on it - sadly the settings on the camera were not correct, I'd misjudged them, so when I saw this one I just had to snap it, sunshine or not!

@randystreat @fayefaye @golftragic @kwind @littleconnie @claudiet @peadar @psychographer @joannakate @hermann @bkbinthecity @365karly1 @tonygig @johnsutton Thanks very much for taking the time to comment. I've known this plant as Cuckoo Pint but it's also called Lords and Ladies / Jack in the Pulpit and I think it's a close relative of the Arum lily. The berries are highly poisonous despite their beauty. Am so pleased you liked this one!

@fbailey Very interesting, thank you. I think most berries that are red are likely to be toxic. Obvious exceptions, of course, eg raspberries.
