The Bandstand, Folkestone by fbailey

The Bandstand, Folkestone

The only bandstand left out of the two originally built. It was constructed in 1895 and sits on The Leas promenade in Folkestone overlooking the Channel. Regular Sunday concerts are still performed there during the summer months.

My latest ambition is to capture a good sunset in this particular spot. Everyone else has done it, just not me!
Shows up the lovely ornate ironwork.

@scillygirl Thank you, I think it's extremely pretty.

The black and white gives it an oriental feeling.

Instant Fav. I really like this (not just because it's music). It's a simple shot but absolutely captures the essence not only of the particular spot, but also of a time, and a notion, that live music was "a good thing". I could go on... but I'll spare you.

Now, if you could nip back and get exactly the same shot without the cars in it, that really would be perfect!

@sarahlth Thanks Sarah:)

@peadar Oh you do make me smile! Thanks for the fav too. I could have chopped the cars out completely (I did crop one out) but wanted to include the building because it balanced those gorgeous lamp posts. I'll see what I can do at a later date!

It looks so delicate and pretty.

A little bit of photoshopping in the corner would solve the car problem and no one would notice Nice picture though 🙂

Instant Fav, love this, great composition. Love it in B&W

Except for the vehicles, this could have been taken back when it was constructed. Nice in B&W.

Originally l came from Herne Bay on the coast near there and visited Folkstone a number of times. Can't say l remember this pavilion especially but do like that everything "old" is not torn down...

Wonderful capture! Looks great in black and white!

Lovely classic old building - it really suits the black and white.

What a lovely old building - I can imagine it would look lovely silhouetted against a sunset. I had to laugh when I read John's comment - it's that whole "to edit or not to edit thing". Do you use Pic Monkey at all? It has this cool "Clone button" that would let you replace the cars with bushes from the foreground of your photo? It's probably easier than having to go back LOL It is very nice as it is anyway. Cheers Rob

@fbailey finally - sorry to take so long - it's been hectic - you have some beautiful photos - how do you feel about an abstract image - my fourth album for August has abstracts - my interpretation lol - thought this might not take too much time since I am soooooo late

in case you miss this on mine
