The third of Anthony Gormley's life sized iron statues in Kent, this time placed on Fulsam Rocks outside the Turner Centre in Margate. I was very surprised to see how fast the tide seemed to flow here. Only a few hours earlier in the day the only parts of the statue visible were his head and shoulders above the waterline.
Days earlier the statue narrowly missed being hit by a cargo vessel which ran aground.
It was not only interesting to read the article, but to read the comments below it. Seems there is a division of opinions as to whether or not they are worthy of being placed on the beach. Good shot!
These statues are nearly as good as all of the little houses. It's such a fun concept to have them appear and disappear with the tides! Love the way he's staring out to sea.
