I thought I'd experiment a little today so turned the in camera settings to Monochrome, tried to get a level horizon on the tripod, and then added an IR filter. This is all a work in progress, I'm very new to this, but the end result is just a little different from the others I've submitted so far for this challenge.
@casablanca IR stands for Infrared. Jorlam who used to be on 365 used to do quite a few of them but her camera was an IR conversion (it only took infrared). The cheap way to do it is to get an IR filter (deep red in colour) and about £40 and add it to your lens using a slow shutter speed. You really need bright sunshine for best results, as you can tell today was variable. You can have people crossing the bridge and they don't even show up as ghosts! My new toy:)
Very interesting. I have used an IR-filter but only in colour and there was so much editing to do. As you did this sooc it seems like a good idea to test b&w. I like the result of your work.
I need to Google IR filters- I don't see what it does other than heighten the exposure in B&W. What am I NOT seeing??? I like the leading line of the river here
Like people mentioned already in the comments, it surely looks like a winter scene... beautiful... fav
And @fbailey thank you for that info.. learning everyday a bit on 365 :)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond@madeinnl If you Google "best examples of infrared photography" you'll see sone amazing pics (mainly colour) that look very surreal and other worldly. I kept mine in b&w so I didn't have to post process. It's not to everyone's taste but I love the results you can get.
Oh, I like this...I remember Jorlam's work as well...didn't realize you could do this with filter and not needing camera conversion...ah, more money to spend.
This is so wonderful. I have been considering purchasing an IR filter and you may have made my mind up for me!
This is so magical - a fairy dream type shot.
A FAV!
