Been really busy today so no time for outdoor pics. Took this in the house with the new lens - not as easy to focus with it as I'd hoped, especially when the subject keeps moving!
@huvesaker She would love to - this silly girl thinks everyone in the human race is wonderful and loves every person she meets unreservedly - quite unflattering really!
@peadar Big learning curve for me at least Peter. Because you can use f2.8 that much more light comes in, especially when you up the ISO but I'm sure you will know - how do you change the shutter speed with a manual lens without taking the lens off and adding the kit lens and changing to S mode? Is there a way at all? If I put this lens onto S, the camera just says 'no lens attached'. Do enjoy battling with lenses, one day I might know what I'm doing!
@fbailey Felicity, surely if you have the camera set to full manual you can adjust all the settings at your pleasure? I'm not a Nikon man, but I'll have a look online.
@peadar Peter, thank you! I don't really know my way around my camera settings too well. When I started to venture out of Auto, a photographer told me to set landscapes up at 200/f.5.6 and Vivid. That seemed to work quite well. When I played about with long exposures the internet told me to use SP and set the shutter that way. That worked not too badly either. Then when I got my first Manual lens and I wanted a long exposure, I thought I had to set to SP but of course the camera couldn't detect the lens. So I used the long winded method above. What a dummie - my only reasoning I can think of is that I always thought the shutter was the aperture because it let more light in and the little f stop was a bonus to let more light in too ... I am really embarrassed writing this, but if if helps any newbie out there who sees it, it's worth it! Thank you again, at least I won't have to swap lenses over in the future ... bet anyone who reads the above will be rolling about holding their sides with laughter, but hey, I've learned something today thanks to you:)
PS Am going to investigate on the web and attempt the manual, but if I can't work it out, can I ask you about flashes as well?
@fbailey I use aperture priority on my manual lenses and control shutter speeds by adjusting the ISO on the camera and the aperture on the lens aperture ring !!! Jobs a good 'un. My only options for vintage lenses on my Sony is Aperture Priority or Manual modes !
So much to learn - will it ever end? No!! I guess that is part of the appeal. To learn how to shoot manual I made myself shoot only in manual for one year. Can't say I am an expert by any means but it did give me a bit of an understanding. Now I find it hard to shoot any other way!
Regardless, your photo is adorable - looks very expert!! Love the ears:)
Wonderful portrait. She is beautiful. I am going to have to investigate an f2.8 lens. You should set up as a pet photographer! Just looks like butter wouldn't melt!
