Little Wings by fbailey

Little Wings

Taken shortly after the first shot but focus much better. I'd given the parents some extra nesting material but they'd covered the babies up completely and then decided to sit on them for good measure - I took the nest out and uncovered the little ones grabbing a quick phone pic at the same time. The parents didn't seem too bothered by my interference but am keeping well out of the way in case I spook them. No need to comment, this is just for my records in case they do make it:)
Oh my, is this one even better? Maybe the best one is the one i'm looking at! Fav

@lostphojo They were begging for food today, tiny tiny heads with great big open beaks - would have made a good shot but am trying hard to give them space. V tough!

I do hope they do well. I never realised they emerged quite so fragile looking and unbird like.

I hope that they survive and thrive.

An exciting time at Chez Bailey. Could you use the long lens from a far corner?

@redandwhite The zoom has never been the same since I dropped it! It's a good idea but the nest is about 4ft from the ground and I'd have to stand on the sofa and try to focus down to get rid of the bars - just tried it with manual zoom but can't get close enough for detail

This is wonderful, just to have the opportunity to see such little teeny creatures. Thanks for sharing!

They are adorable! So exciting to witness their growth. I do hope they make it!
I did the same thing with a robin's nest last year but unfortunately the babies were taken by another bird. Poor mom was hunting for them for a couple of days.

Fascinating how many of the body parts are still translucent. I bet you could see the blood flowing through them.

Thanks for sharing, hope they make it, and it is wise to give them space.
