My Get Pushed challenge this week came from Jackie who asked me for a self portrait - definitely not one of my favourite topics!
This is also for the Dogwood 52 Week Challenge, this week - a self portrait that tells who you are without showing your face.
So here I am, a pair of muddy boots, a stick for arthritic knees, and a gangly border collie pup who tries her utmost to come everywhere with me. And it's in b&w because I really like b&w:)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Wow, Jackie, you're quick on the draw! Glad you like it, I was dreading this and then I saw the Dogwood challenge and hey, a two-fer!
I'd recommend two sticks for better balance but harder to deal with a camera perhaps. This is a wonderful shot.. really great in itself but as a response to the challenge it seems perfect! Fav
PS You seem to do better at walking than I do so I don't know why I should offer advice! You could offer me some, although we might have different knee problems
@yrhenwr Thank you! I need a knee replacement but have to lose weight before I can be referred ... sometimes I seriously question my sanity getting another border collie. Her 30-40 mins in the mornings no longer tire her out, and by the time I've taken the others out I am fit for not much else for the rest of the day! Never was houseproud luckily:)
@fbailey i'm on the list for a total knee replacement. I'm not keen! Managing pain control with a combination of acupuncture and meditation using the Breathworks method. After a few months working on the meditation its paying off. Doesn't cure the underderlying problem of course (nothing will!) but it prevents me layering more pain on top of it through fussing over and fighting it. The result is that I hardly need the pain-killers, which has got to be a good thing. My version is not the worst kind of osteo-arthritis according to the consultant... just the second worst he was happy to tell me: degenerative and heredetary (my sons are unhappy to hear!) Nothin I did brought it on (I had thought running on hard ground might have been a factor) and nothing can stop it getting worse and spreading (which is what's happening now) One inconvenience is that I can no longer feel the shutter button! Another is that it is having an adverse effect upon my swimming. Look after those muscles that support the knee by continuing to walk.
@yrhenwr Thanks for the advice. So sorry to hear about yours. Will Google Breathworks as I've not heard of it. I've had steroid injections but they don't last v long at all. No-one told me getting older would be accompanied by all this. I think jogging on concrete was probably the start of mine. Hope you soon get sorted out, pse let me know how it goes.
