This week Kali challenged me to use the retouch in camera menus. I have played around with a few of these before, so here are the results from computer retouching (Nik filters etc) on the lhs, and in camera menu on the rhs. The results were quite a surprise to me. The sepia and monochrome versions in both were good, the s/c in the third set and the colour version I found (to my surprise) that the in camera menus held up very well indeed in comparison, in fact I preferred the last two! Something I will definitely explore again in the future.
@kali66 Thanks Kali, this was a very interesting challenge. I was surprised how good the in camera menu results were, and much less time consuming too! Definitely something to bear in mind in the future.
I was inspired to look for this on my camera It seems there is a retouch option, but for all my pictures it says not available on this picture. I wonder if that is because I am shooting in raw. Oh well - good experiment and looks like it would be great to use again. I like the two third row down the best!
@helenhall I shoot in raw too Helen - I was pleasantly surprised with the results here. The SC function gave you three seperate colours to play with and it was so easy compared to the 'old' method - I remember spending two evenings isolating red poppies on a b&w field some years ago, never again!
I remember that shot with the red poppies FB, it really was rather special and has stuck in my mind. This is an interesting collage, lets you compare all those treatments.
