A Girl's Best Friend by fbailey

A Girl's Best Friend

My second attempt at street photography for Get Pushed 292.

I was chatting away to my dog (as you do) when this fabulous Great Dane passed by with her owner. I've always been crazy about Danes since I first laid eyes on one, so it was second nature to ask if I could take a picture. Again the owner was so kind!

If ever I get this challenge again (which hopefully I might not!) one of my dogs will be coming along with me:)
@floranhachez My second attempt at your challenge - the best I could manage I'm afraid. But what a beautiful dog :) Felicity

Another wonderful capture. Great Danes never seem to realise just how big they are!

Love all that is in the photo - the background, the focus, the subject! You have to be strong to support a big dog like this on your shoulders!

@salza @maggiemae Thank you! Isn't she a gorgeous dog:)

Great shot and edit in B&W :) I'm glad I don't do the get pushed challenge I usually like to find places as isolated as possible :)

@rjb71 Thank you, I can thoroughly recommend it - it pushed me so far out of my comfort zone I can't find my way back there! Before joining I had never tried long shutter speeds, light painting, street photography, double exposure. It's been a steep learning curve but a good one:) And dog owners always chat away fairly easily to one another too!

"Who loves you, Baby?"
Super image, and of course you were talking to your dog, some of the best conversations are between a dog and its human!
Sadie to mummy, "We've been here 2 seconds, I'm ready to go," as she hit me behind the knees in her impatient way. Thank goodness I hadn't discovered photography when she still ruled the house,

Aw, you captured the love between these two! Who doesn't talk to their dog?

Fabulous shot. My daughter used to have a Great Dane called Sheila. I don't think Sheila had any idea of her size.

love the giant dog! ... such wonderful clarity and detail

Fantastic photo that perfectly captures that special bond that humans have with no other animal. And isn't she big!!!

What a wonderful picture of a loving couple. BTW, do you know anyone who doesn't talk to their dog? Don't think I do.

Wonderful capture of the interaction between the dog and its owner. Fav.

Both the owner and the dog have just the best expressions on their faces. A stunning image. :)

You have captured a wonderful testament to their positive relationship. I love it when dogs give "hugs." Great moment!

You have the lighting and composition done so well. Wonderful shot, though I have to admit to being scared by dogs this big.

@fbailey Congrats for both pictures! It looks awesome! For me you aced the challenge ;)

I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t really want to do this challenge but I hope you enjoyed it a bit nonetheless. You seems to have meet some nice people and dog.

Damned this dog is really tall!

Wow what a big dog. Awesome photo, and so great for the challenge
March 4th, 2018
@floranhachez I'm glad you liked the pictures, I felt it was cheating a bit asking dog owners, but I'm not very brave with strangers! I did meet some lovely owners and their dogs though, but it was a challenge nonetheless:) Isn't she a fabulous dog!
March 4th, 2018
@888rachel Their size doesn't worry me as they are so soft and gentle, I worry more about small snappy dogs:)
March 4th, 2018
@fbailey I don’t see it as cheating, they are still stranger and at the end it’s easier and more fun to start with people with whom you share something.
Yes she is and she seems to have quite some success here ;)

Excellent capture and processing. And what a gorgeous looking dog. Easy fav :)
March 5th, 2018
so impressive. great portrait - and that you went so far out of your comfort zone! one day maybe i'll engage a stranger. until then i'll be cowardly and lurk about with a very long lens
March 7th, 2018
@pistache It's so much easier if you have a dog with you, I doubt if I'd have been able to ask for a photo without one of mine in tow:)
