Thatched Bus Shelter by filsie65

Thatched Bus Shelter

Been meaning to get a shot of this for a while - it's far from typical, in fact the only thatched bus stop I can remember seeing! In a little village not far away, and today I passed it as they had closed the usual route to George's school. So quaint, makes me think of Hobbiton! (But don't tell the locals I said so...!
Such a stressy day, what a joy it was to see all your lovely comments on my dvd drops yesterday - you are too kind. There really was very little to it - try it and you'll see. Have a great Friday :)
Pity more aren't this pretty!

What an amazing capture of an incredible structure. I'm impressed that the authorities had the imagination to try something like this.

@gphelps5 Well spotted, yes it is. I didn't think there were many around - do you come this way often or just noticed it and remembered it?

I am storking you - Ha ha ha...

Not really, I thought it looked very interesting, so looked it up on Google. I thought I may catch you out...

@gphelps5 How on earth did you look it up on Google?! Too clever for me, I am trying to catch up with the 21st century!

It was not that difficult, you called it "Thatched Bus Shelter" and your profile says you live in Bedfordshire.
I just went to google and typed: Thatched Bus Shelter Bedfordshire - an then looked for images. The first one has the caption "Old Warden goes a bit over the top about thatching everything in sight."

@gphelps5 So it does.... her shot is clearer and sunnier than mine! I tried to shoot it without the cricket club building showing, while being told to hurry up by George and having the other kids in the car giggling at him saying 'Mum has this fascination with bus shelters, she's writing a book 'Bus shelters I have seen'....!

I would read that - let me know when it is published...

Very cool bus stop! Maybe they built in in remembrance of days gone by when most of the homes had thatched roofs. This is a really nice shot. Well done, Phil :)
