Well as I couldn't find any love here yesterday (except for love all around everywhere in a spiritual sense), I cast my mind back to the city of love, Paris, and remembered seeing this strange sight on several bridges. We worked out that folk declared their love with a padlock, which they fastened to a bridge and then threw the key into the Seine. I've not seen this in Britain but remember Davide (@woot) posting shots of something similar from Italy so perhaps it's a red-blooded continental Latin thing...?
Did the selective colouring today which actually made me notice just how many people had declared their amour there... sweet.
Boots the monkey is still grinning since hearing about all your lovely views and comments on his epic shot. Thank you all from the bottom of his boots! :)
Fab. Love how this has been selectively coloured. No love. Reminds me of a place I worked at years ago. The phone rang and the pottery teacher answered the phone. Heard her say, "Sorry mate, no joy around!", and she hung up. Joy then walked into the office from the neighbouring centre. The pottery teacher said, "Someone just rang looking for you." good thing it wasn't death in Venice or jouissance in Paijs.
@peterdegraaff A few years ago we had a lady called Gay who came in and helped in the school office. I walked in one day and started to ask her something... and realised there was a young, dishy chap sitting at the desk instead. I said 'oh I'm sorry I thought you were Gay, but you're clearly not Gay' and the polite confused smile he gave me was priceless. I photocopied the sheet and left the room without even breathing once............
After everyone in the staff room had exploded they wandered in and out of the office asking if anyone had seen Gay, oh there you are, Gay, how are you Gay, etc... just to try to explain it.
They still laugh now.
@filsie65 We used to work with a woman called Gay Sargeant. My sister went to school with a girl, who I met called Ophelia Dick. Say that fast and you can nderstwnd the unconscious hate she felt for her father in a Freudian sense
A fabulous shot for the theme. Love the "Gay" and Ophelia tales. I still laugh at the name of my Chemistry teacher 35 years ago, the appropriately named Dr Spillet. At the same school, the art teachers were mr Broad and Mr Long, and the woodwork teacher was Mr Glue.
What a great pov. I've seen these collections in a few places now, even saw a couple of padlocks recently, attached to a safety railing up on a headland viewing platform down at the Gold Coast. Very sweet idea.
What an awesome romantic idea! Wonder if if works? It sounds better than the old marriage cliche of 'tying the knot'!
Lock your Love Away!! I love it!!
How romantic! When you go to Paris you will have to take a padlock for me and my sweetheart, as I will never get there! Nice shot! Excellent subject and excellent focus! Well done! :)
Fantastic! Love your POV and the SC works so well for this to emphasise the padlocks! Sorry for the mass catch-up Phil and thanks for sticking with me! I think I should get a price for being the world's worst follower when I finally get to the end of my 365 ;-)
Deja vu l cant believe this , l put up exactly the same type of shot , mine was at the airport ...l wasn't aware of the significance...thanks for sharing ...great pov!!
What a romantic Idea - My niece is getting married soon - I will show her this and see if she would like to do something similar to mark the occasion! Your pov and dof are perfect for this shot!
