I was married once - on 30th April 1988. He left us, and I'm not married any more. (Gosh that's a long story cut short!) So how daft is it that I knew today was the 25th anniversary? My Mum knew I'd be feeling sentimental and sent me these lovely flowers which had me all teary so I decided to take a shot of them and go with the monthly bonus word 'anniversary' and use the 'silver' date to show you one of my most treasured possessions, this silver celtic locket which I call 'my babies necklace'....
This was given to me by my oldest friend when George was a baby and I wore it every day for around 15 years, it's travelled many, many miles with me. The catch is wearing out from the times that the kids at school asked to see the photos of George and Cathy inside, so I keep it now for just wearing when 'my babies' aren't with me. Sentimental softie that I am - but I think you already knew that! I'll be back to my pseudo-normal self tomorrow, roll on May!
I've thoroughly enjoyed the April challenge - thank you to Graham the mad Bulldog for setting it up and running it.
Thank you all for your lovely comments on my blossom shot - I hadn't thought of it as 'composed' but have now tagged it for the weekly challenge. You are all marvellous, and I hope you have the most Wonderful Wednesday! Mwah!
Gorgeous shot Phil!! You are allowed to feel a bit dodgy when anniversaries like this come around. Mine is on the 4th May - too many years ago to remember - but I always feel a bit sad on that day.
Thank you for sharing this with us. You have captured your lovely locket well. Think you deserve a group hug from your 365 friends and a fav from me for your photo
The flower is a lovely shade of pink, the locket is a beautiful treasure and your story is bitter sweet! Sending a big Canadian Hug to you! (I still remember my wedding date too, afterall it was a big day for us)
What a very lovely shot, Phil! I love that your mum sent flowers. I remember my anniversary too but I don't dwell on it. The day I regret every year now is Mother's Day which is coming up soon. I want to bury my head in the sand on that day. This is such a great display of the the flower and the locket. It looks like you've taken great care of it. Great job on a great photo. :)
how wonderful that you are surrounded by love
Made me stop and think, if I'd gone ahead with the first wedding date I ever set it would be the 25 years 1 Sept next year, until you mentioned it I'd not even thought about the actual date for many many years
Awww hugs. It's no wonder you remembered. It was a big part of your life and you have two wonderful children. So nice that your Mum remembered and sent you flowers xx
Beautiful photo, lovely and soft in pink, gorgeous locket with a lovely memory. I too was married once...or is that twice, fool for love I am. I'm not sentimental about anniversaries (I can't keep up!), but I have my happy ever after now, well that's the plan! Lovely story about the people around you supporting!
Pretty shot. Lovely sentiments. Life isn't always easy, but there's always something to learn. I'm glad you have this pendant to remind you of the things that really matter...your wonderful children. Chin up. Consider yourself hugged by me, long distance. I'm thinking of you today and it put a smile on my face.
