I chose this macro shot for the words-of-the-month word 'Democracy'... it's from a Scottish £5 note and shows the chap, Sir William Arrol, whose engineering was responsible for such wonders as the Forth Bridge, Tower Bridge in London and others around the world plus gantries including one used for RMS Titanic. He started work in a cotton mill age 9, became a blacksmith by age 13, then did engineering at night school. Amazing, such humble beginnings leading to such achievements.
I chose the shot for today as the news has been dominated by Brexit, including concerns north of the border in Scotland. Whatever your views it seems to me that it is a right palava and I hope the democratically elected folk can sort it out for us all. They won't be able to please all the people I'm sure, but I hope most can be satisfied by whatever happens next.
Thank you for calling by :)
Nice composition for the word democracy.
