It's hard to accept that despite my mature years this is the first Christmas Cake I have ever made myself... you see nobody except me ever liked fruit cake and I didn't need the gazillions more calories so pilfered a large chunk of Mum's. This year the kids are eating fruit cake so I clocked Nicola's idea, bought a measured-out kit, added cherries and made my own. Here it is, decorated yesterday. I laughed and had so much fun I want to do another, fingers crossed it tastes ok. Must show me mother....!

Nice shot, Phil! Congrats on making your own Christmas cake this year! I have been watching "Come Dine With Me" Christmas specials the past couple of weeks and they seem to like to serve Christmas cake a lot!! I think yours looks better than some I've seen on that show! Well done - on both the cake and the shot! :)
