Fern, Museum gardens, York

While I was in the Fern Garden I became quite entranced with the regular pattern of the leaves and the colours displayed.

I knew that there were fossils showing that fern plants had been around for a long time, and that they had spores rather than seeds.

I've read a lot more about them in the link below and now will have to go back and look at them again to see if I can find the points of interest I have read about, like finding some of the spores.

Lovely display of form and colors. I live in MN and the ferns here are in the same process of color changing. Good eye, this is wonderful.

The last time I was in the museum gardens, there was a very friendly squirrel looking for food. Good shot.

@gamelee There are quite a lot of friendly squirrels there including one that poses until you press the button, it must have a sixth sense! Katharine

They are incredible sturdy plants now and the past!

@helixconcepts I keep thinking that I should plant some in the garden as everything I plant has to survive on benign neglect. Katharine
