Louise and I took a walk with Evelyn to the village of Naphill and I noticed this tree had a plaque stating it was donated by Emily Knox, who was linked to Bletchley Park during the war.
Louise told me that at Christmas the tree is decorated as part of the festivities. If you look carefully you can see the beginning of the decorations at the top of the tree!
I could find no other details about Emily but have added the link to Bletchley Park.
What a lovely find! It's nice that you spotted something that is such an everyday common thing we walk on by and took notice of it. Not just taking a quick look at it, you sought out information on it. For what ever reason Emily donated this tree, it wasn't forgotten, you noticed it and shared! This is lovely!
Wonder if the ornament wasn't left over from last year. I'm sure Louise will give us the pleasure of seeing this tree when it's all decorated and maybe even lit up. great picture of this huge tree, Katharine.
@dolphin I'd love to see it decorated too Molly. I'll try to give Louise a reminder to take its photo as I will not see it in all its glory for Christmas. Katharine
@bruni I wondered the same thing Bruni. I did think it would be sensible to do that. I will have to remind Louise to take a photo of it in its Christmas dressing. Katharine
