The Tour de France has provided much yellow and fun in York, as we have tried to show in some of our recent posts.
There have been many people involved with the event over the past months and on the day I saw many Tour Makers (stewards), police, clearly labelled doctors and first aiders. I have to admit that I never gave a thought to needing a rescue boat in case I fell off Clifton Bridge, over the River Ouse, whilst watching the race pass. There were actually two inflatable launches on the upstream side of the bridge
I managed to keep dry but did snap this boat and crew. It is interesting to note that this boat is yellow in keeping with the Yorkshire theme colour for the tour.
@thresheg Thanks. We enjoyed the TV coverage too, although our eldest daughter was cross that the commercial break covered the bit of the race where we might have been seen. katharine
@vignouse Thanks Richard. I was impressed by the planning and preparation that went into the event. The river was a risk, especially when seeing where some people perched on the bridge to watch the race. katharine
