Petergate is another of the city centre streets that dates back almost 2000 years to the time of the Romans, and was then the Via Principalis (Main Street).
As in Katharine's shot yesterday, this street would normally be filled with shoppers and tourists, but Christmas day gives a great opportunity to get a shot of a much quieter scene.
The architecture is of various ages, with some of the buildings being constructed several hundred years ago.
In the distance one of the towers of York Minster can be seen overlooking Petergate.
Thank you, it's so nice to hear generous and thoughtful comments from so many of you - they are all very much appreciated.
I'm glad that so many of you liked the Minster tower overlooking the scene. It's one of the things I like about York, the Minster towers overlooking the city centre almost like guardian angels
