So that's what the big crane was for! by fishers

So that's what the big crane was for!

I've made several trips into York this week to record the replacement of Scarborough Bridge ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2015-02-16 and http://365project.org/fishers/365/2015-02-19).

I wasn't entirely happy with the shots I took of the old bridge spans being lifted out, so I was hoping for better results when the new spans were lowered into place.

Sometimes things don't go to plan. The engineers were so far ahead of schedule that I completely missed seeing and shooting the new spans going in, so I've fallen back on this shot of one of the old spans being lifted out. The bridge location is off to the left of the shot. Sadly, it was a very grey day when I took this.

Ah well at least you have a record of the occasion and the reflections are good.

Sorry your plans were thwarted (engineering works and weather!), but there are some lovely reflections in this shot.

Something about that colossal product of modern engineering behind the tranquil row of houses is interesting.
