Built in 1931 by the Monk Bridge Construction Company, this pedestrian bridge over the River Foss in York finds itself out of use less than 80 years later. It was built to improve communications between York's power station and the cooling tower, but as neither still exist, the bridge is now locked and no longer used. It looks a bit sad if you ask me!
I agree with you. I was just thinking before I read it's story that I like the long stairs, so much easier for climbing. a few times each way gives you a good exercise.
