While staying at my mums I walked across a newly restored area of land that was previously where the waste material from a local coal mine was tipped. A large area has been landscaped, thousands of trees have been planted and there are footpath and cycle trails.
Here, beside one of the cycle paths is a bee busy collecting pollen from a teasel. It was fascinating to watch it work it's way around the teasel collecting nectar. There were quite a few bees around, so I assume that hives may well have been put nearby.
Lovely sharpness and clarity! The last time I tried to take a photo of a bee, it was moving so frantically that even using a fast shutter speed, all I got was a blur. Well done!
Thank you all for your very generous comments and favs - on the popular page again! - our break seems to have done us some good. I confess that this kind of shot is something I really struggle with and which is well outside my comfort zone, and I was happy to have produced this shot. Thank you all once again, you've really made my day!
