Tadcaster Bridge by fishers

Tadcaster Bridge

Tadcaster is an attractive small town some 10 miles west south west of York, and is well known for it's breweries.

It has a long history, dating back at least to Roman times, almost 2000 years ago. A roman road linked Tadcaster to York, and much of it's route can still be followed on foot.

This view was impossible until recently, and it gives the town a very attractive peaceful feel, with the attractive old church, with the road bridge reflected in the River Wharfe. Part of the bridge is around 300 years old.

I'll show you the other side of the bridge next time I post.

This is lovely Ian and an easy Fav... but you've got my mouth watering - what I wouldn't give for a pint of Sam Smith's Old Brewery bitter!

Wow, thank you all for the comments and favs, which got this shot onto the Trending page.

I think you will find the next shot of this bridge quite a contrast. There is a clue in this shot, with the bits of orange visible through the trees and under the right hand arch.

@pyrrhula

Thank you for asking about my family - all are well, but I can't persuade them to start posting photos with me again!. Both Katharine and I have elderly parents that need helping so we are travelling to see them a lot. Lucy is living near Nottingham and is studying for a Masters degree at the university there. Louise is now living in Bradford and working in a nursery.

I was interested to see in your comment that you are visiting England later in the year - will you be anywhere near York? - it would be nice to meet if it can be arranged.

@bruni

Thank you Bruni - I only just started posting again after an unplanned long break, and at the moment it's only me posting. I haven't managed to persuade the rest of the family to join me yet.
