Yarnbombing by fishers

Yarnbombing

On my second day visiting Lucy, we went to explore Mansfield. I've only visited there once before, on that occasion with Katharine, and we only had an hour then to look around the town. A couple of shots from that visit appeared in 365 - http://365project.org/fishers/365/2013-08-20 and http://365project.org/fishers/365/2013-08-21

To learn a little more about the town, Lucy and I went into Mansfield Museum, only to find a huge amount of yarnbombing had taken place there. The amazing ceation in this shot was sat close to the entrance to the museum.

I like yarn bombing, it's a wonderful way to brighten up an urban scene without being destructive... it's 'green graffiti' if you like.

Thank you all for your comments and fav - nice to hear from you!

The yarnbombing in the museum must have had the agreement of the authorities, since a number of exhibits had been decorated. I agree with Richard, it does brighten up the urban scene and it is harmless fun.

@vignouse

I love the shot in your link - it is amazing how popular yarnbombing has become. Our local park recently received the the attention of a group called 'knit wits' who added a variety of wildlife, especially bees, to the trees there.
