Arriving at York railway station to catch a train, I spotted this Trans-pennine train with new decoration.
The use of vinyl wraps on rail vehicles has allowed a level of decoration that would have been impossible in the past, and train companies are adopting vinyl wraps for a variety of purposes.
Some are commemorative, including the centenary of the first world war, others are publicity for particular companies, such as the recent 'We are Northern' campaign, while others, like this example advertise particular events.
Not sure pink is a great colour for a train, but the vinyl wraps do add variety and interest to my journeys by rail.

I'm not sure how long this train has been decorated, but it's for a Gay Pride event in Manchester on the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of this week. It will be interesting to see how long it remains decorated after that - a train decorated for Liverpool City of Culture 2008 only lost that decoration earlier this year!
