Helmsley lies at the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park. Indeed the park boundary runs through the village. Here, within the park, Borough Beck is lined with daffodils and bridged by a stone bridge. In the background is the tower of All Saints Church.
Helmsley is at the end of a bus route from York, and it's an attractive ride with interesting villages and attractive views along the way.
The village itself has a ruined castle and several other tourist attractions and is therefore a popular destination for visitors.
I agree with your comments about the poles and wires, it is a shame they are there intruding into the view. They are telephone cables. In many places they are now underground, and here the cables into the town are underground, but the pole and wires link the underground cables to the individual houses and shops.
