A disused railway runs from west of York city centre southwards towards Selby. The northern part has been converted to a cycle track, and along this is a scale model of the solar system, with the sun and planets at scale sizes and scaled distances apart. Here, just north of the village of Riccall is what was the outermost planet of the solar system (Pluto) and it's largest moon (Charon). Pluto is no longer considered a planet, but as a minor planet. This followed a scientific definition of what a planet was created by the International Astronomical Union and adopted in 2006. So here in a rural part of North Yorkshire it's glory days as a planet are still remembered.
