Lastingham Church by fishers

Lastingham Church

The Moorsbus is a seasonal network of bus routes to and through the North York Moors national park The 2019 season started in York yesterday. I celebrated by taking the bus to the village of Hutton le Hole and doing a circular walk to Lastingham and back, where I love to visit the Parish church of St Mary.

This was the view from the road as I approached the village and church from the south. Most of the church seen here dates from the restoration of 1879 under the guidance of the eminent Victorian architect, JL Pearson RA. However, parts of the church that date from 1078, can still be seen.

Thank you. I usually head into Lastingham through some woodland and don't usually see this view. I now know what I am missing.
