The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

Yesterday was quite warm and humid. I went for a gentle walk through Bourne Woods in south Lincolnshire, enjoying the relaxing pace and warmth, with an occasional stop for a rest on a bench, when this very energetic runner came storming past, heading (so I thought) for the hill. But no, she turned off on a much flatter path to the right.

Great action shot. Just looking at her makes me dream of warmer days. 50 degree F and terrible windy. Will spring ever arrive and stay at least for a few days. as to running...my old body says NO!

That's a lovely one. If I could run, I would choose places like this too.

Nice shot. I can't blame the lady for turning off. Running uphill would sap the energy pretty quickly.

Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are as always appreciated!

Although the young runner provided a suitable subject for this shot, her rapid pace did make me feel tired, particularly with it being a warm and humid day. Once, many years ago, I loved running, but today a long walk is more my thing - I've become more sedate as I've got older!

@will_wooderson Me too - I used to run in my youth, but not now, a pleasant walk is what I enjoy.
