Another trip to the North York Moors by Moorsbus, and a walk from Kirkbymoorside to Hutton le Hole, but not by the most direct route.
Towards the end of the walk, and passing through the village of Gillamoor on the road towards Hutton le Hole, the road suddenly bends to the left and descends a steep hill through woodland – but from the bend there is a spectacular view over the surrounding countryside.
The best way to arrive there is on foot, and there is a bench at the bend to sit and enjoy the view when you get there. It’s an ideal place to stop for a snack, a drink and a few photos. This shot shows a track descending from the moorland above into the valley of the River Dove below at the hamlet of Lowna.
Eventually, having spent a long time enjoying the view, I took a footpath down the slope, rather than the road, passing Gillamoor Mill and Grouse Hall (farm) on the final couple of miles to Hutton le Hole.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
This area is looking much better after recent rain, with the dry parched land turning green again - but this view is always worth enjoying whatever the season and whatever the weather.
great leading line and meandering lines
