One of the classic Scarborough views, looking across a wide exapnse of sand in the North Bay to the headland on which Scarborough castle stands.
The current castle was constructed shortly after 1130AD, although there is evidence that Scarborough has been inhabited for around 3000 years.
I have many childhood memories of Scarborough, having had holidays based in a guest house in North Bay on a number of occasions - and in those days it always seemed to be sunny! When this shot was taken, the rain was just beginning to clear.
I know exactly where you are standing! We have had many family holidays staying in The Sands, right there on the beach in the North Bay. Idyllic. A short walk down the stairs to body board or dig sandcastles or walk on the beach and straight back up again! Many happy memories of here.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
It was nice to visit Scarborough again, it isn't somewhere I get very often. Despite the weather, this view is one that I still find inspiring.
