Scarborough Bound Steam by fishers

Scarborough Bound Steam

OK, so I'm being a bit self indulgent now, but how could I resist posting this steam train shot taken this morning of todays Scarborough Spa Express as it pulls away from platform 5 at York railway station.

This locomotive has featured before in recent weeks - http://365project.org/fishers/365/2019-07-14 , http://365project.org/fishers/365/2019-06-28 , http://365project.org/fishers/365/2019-06-21 . It has been the only locomotive to work these Scarborough trips this summer, so the challenge as always is to find different viewpoints.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, which put this shot on the Popular Page!

I have to admit that the viewpoint in this shot is one of my favourite places to get a steam locomotive, with it framed by the arch of the station roof, and sunlight through the roof nicely highlighting it.

This kind of locomotive brings back childhood memories, since they were was used on the main line close to where I grew up (though in those days they were in a very dirty dark green colour scheme!)

@fishers Lived close to train yard and depot. Trains from Europe has it`s final staion there and had to be new suplayed and to turned on a turnwheel (?) in the opposite direction.
After the load of coal I collected the fallen left overs for our home stove.

Yes looking at this beautiful red train brings back a childhood memory of when I by myself boarded a steam engine train. I can't remember anymore how old I was then, but I was a bit scared. I knew I had to get off after two stops to visit my aunt and cousin. I just remember getting on the train and nothing else.

@pyrrhula I grew up near Rotherham, an area with lots of coal mines and steel works, so the railways were very important in moving both coal and steel. There were lots of steam trains to watch!
