Bertie Bassett by fishers

Bertie Bassett

A bit of fun for today's shot. This crocheted Bertie Bassett is outside a confectionary shop in Thirsk, some 20 miles north north west of York

George Bassett & Co., known simply as Bassett's, was a British confectionery company, based in Sheffield, which created the liquorice allsorts product in 1899. In 1926 the mascot of Bassett's, Bertie Bassett, was created. Bertie continues to represent the brand today.

On the medical front, Katharine is still in York hospital, but my mum has been discharged from Rotherham hospital, and my brother had quite a journey to get her home through an area badly affected by flooding. Thank you once again for all your kind words and prayers, they are very much valued!

Great fun shot and mascot. I realised it had to do with liquorice sweets as soon as I saw your shot. Still love those sweets at my age.

@ninaganci Thank you Nina, I'm glad you like this shot. And thank you for your constant support while Katharine has been in hospital. She is now home, but we have been warned that it could be some weeks before she makes a full recovery.
