Katharine had an appointment at the hospital yesterday morning for a checkup and CT scan, so while she went through that process I went for a short walk. Close to the hospital are the grounds of the disused Bootham Park hospital, which was used as a mental health unit until a couple of years ago. Also in the grounds is this attractive former chapel, now used as offices and consulting rooms for the nearby hospital.
It is a grade 2 listed gothic revival building, and is an attractive feature in the grounds. It was built in 1865 to a design by Rawlins Gould and converted to it's current use about 1988.
Thank you all for your comments and favs, they are very much appreciated!
This shot shows one of the two former hospital chapels near where we live. They are both attractive buildings, although sadly neither are now used as churches. There is within the hospital buildings a chapel built as part of the development of the new hospital in the 1970s, though it is rather more anonynous than this building.
