Still in the ruins of St Marys Abbey (the low walls in the foreground), and surrounded by other historical buildings. The main buildings across the centre of the shot are part of the Kings Manor, parts of which were originally the abbots house, built around 1250AD. In the 1540's following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it became home to the Council of the North and became a royal residence. It suffered major damage in the Civil War in 1644, and by 1667 it became the official residence of John, Lord Freschville, Governor of the City of York. After this it was leased to a variety of people for a number of different uses. By the early C20th it was a school, later becoming a blind school. In 1958 it was taken over by York council. It was renovated in the early 1960's and since then has been used by York University.
Beyond the Kings Manor are the towers of York Minster (left) and the catholic St Wilfrid's Church (right).

Katharine is still in hospital but feeling quite well. Doctors believe there is a deep seated infection that needs an extended period of intravenous antibiotics, which can be administered at home once all the necessary arrangements are made.
I get to know so many interesting places here.
I wish Katharine a speedy recovery.
💛 to you both!
