Another shot from the archive, and back to 2006 and a winter panorama from near the top of Buckden Pike in Upper Wharfedale, Yorkshire Dales.
This view looks south-east towards Little Whernside (left) and Great Whernside (right).
The background to this shot is that for two winters the Dalesbus organisation ran a winter Sunday bus, aimed at walkers, from York and Leeds along Wharfedale and then over into Wensleydale. I couldn't resist quite a few trips, although it was a long journey.
On this day the climb up Buckden Pike was accompanied by strong winds and drifting snow, but the views made the effort worthwhile, and there were quite a few people around the summit. It was a hard walk but thoroughly enjoyable.
Gorgeous sweeping landscape and dappled light. Nice going back over your archives at times - reminds you of all the lovely places you have already been and the beautiful images you have brought home.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
This look into the past is bringing back some wonderful memories. This walk was quite hard and very cold, but one of the most enjoyable winter walks I've ever done.
