.... and what a six months. It was 22nd October 2019 when Katharine was first taken into hospital in Sheffield as an emergency admission, the first of five emergency admissions between then and the end of January, with spleen damage, pneumonia in both lungs, pleurisy, and pleurisy again.
She has made progress - it is now three months since her last stay in hospital, although there have been quite a few day visits.
The Covid 19 has added an interesting complication. Katharine needs to avoid infections because of her low spleen function, but needs to go out and exercise to help her lung function to improve, so it's now a very short local walk each day.
This shot shows her spirometer, which she uses daily. Sucking on the tube lifts some or all of the balls and she had to do ten repeats each time lifting all three balls.
So, slow progress, and hopefully before too long she will be able to get back to her normal busy life.
What a long haul for her.. as long as she is on the improve now.. Im two weeks out of hosp after surgery and had to use one of the contraptions .. it was a big challenge at first but soon mastered it.. all the best Kathrine and keep well..
Oh I didn't realize Katharine was in and out of the hospital so many times. I hope and pray she's on the last leg of getting off the spirometer. stay safe.
Glad she is still making slow but steady progress at home. She definitely doesn't want this latest virus! Interesting to see the kit she needs to use. Do wish her well from us xx
Wishing you and Katharine a healthy outcome, and please stay safe
