It all started with a message from Lucy - mum do you still have the backpack you made for my dolls? I did find it, complete with baby Christine. Could I do something to make the backpack a carry cot and clean up the baby?
I took the dolls dress off to wash and oh dear, she needed major repairs to her body fabric which had worn into holes, especially over the wires from the battery compartment that allowed the doll to make baby sounds. Her padding had settled and gone thin. Extra padding across her stomach (top left), a close fitting over lining (bottom left) and a heavier weight body suit sewn down (right) restored her ready for Ian to put batteries in her and test her. Yes, she still giggles and cries!
It will be interesting to see what our grandaughter thinks of this doll - and we may even tell Lucy where the off switch is!
Thank you for all your lovely comments and favs.
I enjoyed restoring both the doll and the backcarrier/carry cot. It's nice to think of a well loved doll being loved all over again. We have a dolls hospital in York but I do enjoy a challenge.
